In the early 1990’s, as a result of a wave finish related problems the use of Marble based white Swimming pool plaster was pronounced, by many industry “professionals”, as being of “unacceptably low quality, too short lived, more likely to have problems and dying out as a popular finish”.
It was at this time that, White Armorcoat was first introduced to the US market. Since then it has led a strong revival in use for this type of finish, white marble based plaster, has always been, the most extensively used swimming pool finish and, probably will continue, to be so for a long time.
A marble based plaster based finish which is; quality made, professionally installed in a good workmanlike manner, properly start-up and maintained, will be as durable as any other cement based finish including, quartz and pebble finishes, it is more durable then, field applied fiberglass, epoxy, rubber, urethane, acrylic based paints, liners and even ceramic tiles.
The Armorcoat line of products was created as the result of demand for quality swimming pool finishes. Drawing on a 30-year relationship between the Founder of Northern Premix, Al Nonis and industry professionals as well as individual Swimming pool owners, the original Armorcoat formula, developed in 1974, has been continuously upgraded and improved as new and better material became available. In the beginning Armorcoat swimming pool plaster was made only in white, colors were obtained by the addition of mineral oxide pigments to the plaster mix at the site. With the development of coated colorfast quartz, Armorcoat became available in Blue and Teal, either site mixed or premixed.
With the growing popularity and demand for exposed quartz finishes, in some regions of the US such as Florida and Texas a smoother version called pebble or exposed aggregate is also becoming very popular in the west and pacific regions has led to the creation of Armorcoat Color Pebble, also in June 2002.
Armorcoat products should be installed only by experienced and competent swimming pool plastering professional’s, this will result in the highest degree of quality, durability and customer satisfaction.
In addition to proving superior products, Armorcoat is backed by a 5-year materials warranty and 30-years of experience in water management for plaster swimming pool.
